3 out of 5 stars Saving vinyl records   September 6, 2010
Jack L. Pierce
The instructions are misleading to say the least. Based on the instructions, one should be able to adjust the recording volume and monitor the sound recording while in the process. I contacted Sony tech support and was finally informed that neither situation was possible when using the USB connection. The problem with this for me is I had to complete the entire process and have the recording loaded on the computer before being able to find out that something messed up and I had to start over. I have also had problems with recording albums where the sound chops off the end of a song as it transitions to the next track of the album.
On the positive side, when you do get a recording done the quality is very good considering the condition of some of the records I have processed. I think the product is overall acceptable, but it needs to improve on the operators monitoring and control of recording during the process.

3 out of 5 stars Sony PS-LX300USB Turntable   September 5, 2010

The turntable worked well and was easy to set up and use, but sound quality from the unchangeable cartridge was rather poor. Definitely not for anyone looking for high fidelity audio.

4 out of 5 stars nice unit   September 5, 2010

Does the job fairly well. Easy to set up. Does pretty good job of cleaning up noisy old LP's; not perfect, but good.

2 out of 5 stars Wouldn't record, no customer support at all.   September 1, 2010
S. Jones (Schenectady)
Convenient style and function but poorer sound than my old, cheap Fisher turntable. Worse, it promises to record to computer but I followed the (minimal) instructions and nothing happened -- so I used the phone and internet offered in the booklet, and both said they don't support the product (in whose booklet they appear). Wow. With this product Sony lies about everything! (Excuse me: it does play records.) I've had some dissatisfaction with Sony products before but this finishes my Sony purchasing. (I couldn't even complain to the company without mentioning a product -- at which point they said, again, there was no email "support" for this product.)
