USB Turntable August 5, 2010 Mark Bastings (Jacksonville, FL) This item was purchased as a gift. From what I understand the person who received it is very happy with it.
Great Turntable For the Price! July 24, 2010 Shawn T. Kiley (Directly Above the Center of the Earth) This Ion turntable is designed to hook up easily with your desktop or laptop PC and transfer your LP's or 45's into digital recordings. While this was a plus for me when searching for the right turntable, it wasn't the first thing I considered, as almost all of my vinyl is already on my hard drive or in my iPod.
That being said, the transfer process is simple, the software downloads with zero issues and this Ion player is perfect for anyone who wishes to use it to transfer their records to digital. The USB connector is simple to use and within minutes, you will be up and running transferring your vinyl to higher quality digital.
I have used the turntable to simply play my record collection, and for the price, it is a fantastic turntable. It easily connects to my 5.1 surround sound system and my old Zenith cabinet system with a simple RCA connection. Records from the late 50's sound as though they were recorded yesterday when played through my surround sound. It also comes with a 45 adapter. However, there is no "78" setting for those of you who have a very old collection.
Audiophiles will be pleased with the sound quality of this turntable. For the price, it simply can't be beat. Unless you are a professional DJ, there is simply no reason to drop another $100 or $200 on a record player when this unit will suffice.
The only negative I can say about the Ion TTUSB, is the lack of a dust cover. I would have gladly paid a few dollars more for a plastic drop down cover. I have fashioned my own dust repellant to keep the dust away.
If you are looking for a bargain priced turntable that serves all your needs but performs like a much more expensive turntable, I highly recommend the Ion TTUSB.
Had to send it back.. July 11, 2010 Jens Mueller (Charlotte, NC) I really had high hopes for this record player, but as soon as we hooked the USB cable up to the computer I thought we might have a problem. After going through all adjustments, the sound level of the file on the Mac was so low it was totally pointless. In addition, as soon as we hooked it up to the stereo we got a horrible warbling sound that only stopped when the switch on the bottom of the turntable was pushed in. We had it 3 days and it's going back. Sorry.
Great Buy July 10, 2010 Earl I am very pleased with this turntable. The sound quality is great. I am loving being able to convert my old albums to CD. This is well worth buying if you have albums to convert.
For Those Who Want Easy and Good July 1, 2010 Jeffrey Cohen (New Jersey) I'm not an audiophile, so I can't attest to the perfection of sound quality. What I can tell you is that in converting some 1000 albums, I have found this turntable to be extremely easy to use--with my Mac, so I don't know what some other reviewers found difficult--and intuitive in setting up. I couldn't be more pleased. At this price, it's a true bargain. Just be prepared to travel down Memory Lane as you convert your vinyl records!
