Amazon.com Product Description
Enjoy a whole new level of LP independence with the Crosley CR49 Traveler. Inspired by the original portable turntables of the late 1950s, the belt-drive unit is versatile enough to play all three common speeds--33-1/3, 45, and 78 rpm--so you're not restricted to any one part of your vintage record collection. In addition, the table's tan-colored suitcase housing includes a pair of built-in, full-range stereo speakers, in effect turning the Traveler into a LP boombox (though without the battery power). The effortless portability makes this a great turntable for traveling, visiting friends, or simply enjoying albums in the garage, basement, or other secondary rooms. The case is stylish, too, with a vintage appearance that beautifully complements traditional furnishings. The Traveler even comes with an adjustable tone control, adding to its versatility, along with a diamond-stylus needle. So whether your tastes run to classic jazz or modern rock, savor your vinyl in style with the Crosley Traveler.

The Traveler measures 17 by 7 by 11 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a 90-day warranty.

What's in the Box
Turntable, diamond-stylus needle, 45 rpm spindle adapter, user's manual.

5 out of 5 stars Blast from the past   August 30, 2010
Lizzie (atlanta, GA)
We ordered the Crosby Traveler CR49 Portable Turntable for a friend who was having a housewarming party at the beach. She had found old 75 records that her father had and wanted
to play them at the party. She did not have a record player and was looking for one to rent, buy or borrow. We saw this at Amazon and wanted to give it to her for a housewarming
gift.

It was the hit of the party! It looked and worked great! The old records were fabulous and people started dancing, gathering around the turntable-it was really fun. All the young
people loved the records and the music and especially the turntable. I would recommend this to anyone. It seems durable-should be good for a long time!!

3 out of 5 stars Overpriced, tracking force will degrade your records FAST!   August 16, 2010

This record player is a neat idea, however it was manufactured cheaply. There is no adjustable tone arm, and the tracking force (the force the stylus, or needle places on the record as it spins) is over 7 grams which amounts to several times the optimal tracking force. This will cause rapid degradation of your vinyl and the many of the tones will be muted out even if the record is in good condition. It's better to spend your money on a second hand Goodwill or Salvation Army turntable with an adjustable tone arm, buy a new cartridge, a stylus tracking force gauge and connect it to a phono amp or a receiver.

5 out of 5 stars Great gift, for those just starting a record collection.   August 11, 2010

This record player is like that guitar you buy your kid before he learns how lo play. It does the job, but it does not break the bank. Everything on it worked, it did not burn out, no pieces were missing or broken. The speakers are not for a party, then again, why would you risk the integrity of your records at a party? Bust out the mp3 player or the cd's for that. If you read the instructions, everything should be fine. Plug in to the outlet. Remove the cap on the needle. Place record. Turn up volume/turn on machine (same nob, but this does not make the device turn records). Set speed. Use lever to raise arm. Gently move arm in the direction opposite to the record, YES, away from where you place the arm on record (this makes the device start spinning the record). Move arm towards record. Place needle/arm on edge of record (Not the very edge though, just look for thicker lines, those are usually the tracks.) Sit down. Relax. Enjoy.

I would recommend this record player if you want to get into records for the first time, if you don't want to spend much, or as a simple to use gift. Hope this information was helpful.

1 out of 5 stars Record let down   August 3, 2010

Very attractive case for the price but this is an embarrassing piece of junk. It was inoperable upon delivery. The drive belt turned out to be a plain old rubber band that could have been holding asparagus together in a previous life.

Can't comment on the sound quality as the "unit" was immediately returned never to be heard from but if the sleek plastic composition of the tone arm is an indicator then Edison's gramophone probably was better in that department.

If you want to be very disappointed and aggrevated I highly recommend this purchase.

4 out of 5 stars Documentation incomplete   June 22, 2010

We were about to return the unit because the turntable would not spin. I decided to call the company first because I saw one review that mentioned vague instructions. The help desk immediately had me pull the arm to the right until I heard a pop. This engaged the turn table. To stop the turn table I pulled the arm to the left until the pop. Very easy but was not in my documentation.
